FACELIFT ATLANTA
Afacelift or a lifting and smoothing of the facial skin is a surgical procedure designed to reverse the effects of aging, gravity, and the environment. Over the years, due to gravity and adverse environmental exposure, the soft tissues of the face, including the skin, begin to sag and wrinkle. As a result, people often think that they look tired or sad. This effect is also associated with volume loss in certain areas like the cheeks and temples. In these cases, we begin to see a flattening of the cheeks, hollowing of the temples, the appearance of jowls, deepening of the folds on the side of the mouth, and loose skin in the neck area.
The goal of a facelift is to reposition the soft tissues to their former relative positions by gently lifting the skin. This helps alleviate wrinkles and creases in a natural way. The only evidence of this surgery is hidden in the hair-line and around the ear.
After the facelift, most people look years younger and “rested.” During your consultation, Dr. Abolmaali will assess your face as a whole and advise you on additional options for facial rejuvenation, such as adding volume to the cheeks, temples and possibly chins, and skin optimization to restore your face’s most extraordinary, youthful, and natural look.
Facelift Average Cost: $5,000 – $6,200*

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can a facelift help me?
Most presentations of facial aging can be reversed by facelift and neck lift surgeries, although these surgical options are generally reserved for more advanced cases. In our experienced hands, we can alleviate your most concerning elements of the aging process and restore youthfulness and confidence back to you.
Results include:
- Restoring tissues to where they belong, this will naturally restore the fullness of the cheeks and improve the appearance of jowls
- Gently lifting the skin will soften the wrinkles and restore skin elasticity
- Removing excess skin in the neck area will restore a nice contour in profile views
- Tightening of the neck muscles (platysma corset) provides a lasting effect
Based on the examination and your goals, Dr. Abolmaali may recommend other minor procedures to enhance the facelift such as
- Facial fat grafting to the temples, cheek and chin
- Liposuction of the neck and face
- Implants to restore the structural components of the cheeks and chin
- Dermal filler injection of neuromodulators (e.g. BOTOX® and Dysport®)
- Skin resurfacing with laser or chemical peels
- Other surgical procedures such as an eyebrow lift and blepharoplasty (repair of hooded/droopy eyelids)
What are the different types of facelift?
Plastic surgery has evolved significantly over the last decade. Facelift techniques are in the forefront of these changes. The most common types of facelift include:
- Mini-facelift (MACS lift)
- Traditional facelift (SMAS lift)
- Short scar facelift
- Isolated neck lift
Dr. Abolmaali has stayed abreast of these changes and, in addition to his practice in the Atlanta area, has had the opportunity to train with over 40 experts in the field of cosmetic plastic surgery in Manhattan and Long Island, NY. He is experienced with each of these facelift techniques. Having experienced the strengths and weaknesses of each type of surgery, Dr. Abolmaali can help you choose the appropriate surgery for you.
What can I expect after facelift surgery?
All facelift procedures are performed as outpatient surgery. Dr. Abolmaali has privileges in multiple surgery centers in northern Atlanta, including the Alpharetta, Marietta, Roslyn, Dunwoody and Sandy Spring suburbs. He also operates in a fully accredited operating room with a board certified anesthesiologist at his office location. Most facelift surgeries are performed under general anesthesia, however, depending on your preferences, it may be performed with twilight sedation and local anesthesia.
Post operatively, pain is usually very tolerable, even minimal according to people’s experiences. Most individuals do not require narcotic pain medications. You can expect swelling and bruising for seven to ten days. If possible, resting/sleeping in a reclining chair with your head elevated is recommended. We advise you to take it easy for one to two weeks after surgery; however, you may go out and about as soon as you are up to it. We advise avoiding exercise or bending over for two to three weeks.
By one month, you notice most of the benefits and lasting effects of the facelift; however, it may take up to a few months to see the final result.
What can I expect for healing after my facelift?
Dr. Abolmaali uses scar minimizing techniques to hide evidence of the surgery in hairlines and natural creases of the skin (e.g. around the ear). Incisions usually heal very well without any complications. It is extremely important that you avoid smoking and/or any nicotine containing products as they adversely affect the healing process and cause long lasting scars after surgery.
What is liquid face lift?
The liquid face lift has become very popular over the last number of years. This procedure is a minimally invasive way to rejuvenate the face without the need for surgical intervention. It usually involves combining injectables like fillers and toxins with laser resurfacing procedures in order to eliminate fine lines and increase the collagen content of the skin. The fillers restore volume to the face, whereas toxins and lasers lessen the appearance of wrinkles and improve overall skin quality.
